Imperialism: a phase Iran is going through

Hussein Shariatmadari, one of the Supreme Leader (Ayatollah Khamenei) delegate said recently that Bahrain is a part of Iran and that three-disputed UAE Islands in the Gulf are Iranian. (Akhbar Al Khaleej, July 12 article by Sayyid Zahra)

Iran's role in the region is on the wave and it is causing destruction and despair from Iraq to Lebanon (Hezbollah), territories (Hamas), Afghanistan and now they got to Bahrain. Is there a clash in site between Arabs and Iran? It might if we continue to sit on our hands and allow the mad mullahs take control through their terrorist networks.

p.s I did not mention Syria, because Assad willingly (that is open to debate though) follows Iran

Stefania says:

Manuela, the three "disputed" islands have ALWAYS BEEN IRANIAN.

It has nothing to fo with the Islamic regime. It's the Persian Gulf sheikhdoms that are pretending things that aren't theirs. Like always, Arabs claimed credit for things they never did.

La Russophobe says:

OMG that is just what we freakin' need. First Iraq goes after Kuwait and now Iran is going to swallow Bahrain. What next? It's difficult to believe there are even rational beings over there. The US was already discussing a bombing run and NOW they start letting imperialism talk drop?

Yikes. Batton down the hatches, it's going to be a bumpy night.

:(

Manuela says:

Stefania I know about the dispute, but on this one I go with the Arabs rather than the Persians. If they'll give in to Iran now, this will make easier for tribes or larger communities to ask for a bit of land here and there. It is not acceptable anymore. Things are how they are and Iran has to accept it.

The main problem in the whole region is that not only did the most powerful Western states draw artificial borders, but they did something much worse: for decades they supported the corrupt dictators at the expense of the masses. As long as the price of oil/baril was good who the hell cared about Persians and Arabs?! So now we have to deal with extreme radicalization on all parts -- it is not about our military presence in Afghanistan or Iraq, it is about the large gap in our mentality and very different objectives. Somehow the secular project failed in the region and Islamism (for the Sunnah Hassan al Banna made it viable starting with 1928, but the ideas are century old from Mohammad, and later on Arab savants as Ghazali, Ibn Khaldun and many others. The same ideas were introduced to Shiias by Ayatollah Khomeini and Ali Shariati bakc in the '70s -- funny how both extremist ideologies shiia and sunna can thank the MB for it)

Manuela says:

La Russophobe: the Islamist revoltion in Iran started in 1979. With the Iraq mess Iran found a great opportunity of putting its foot in the door and create havoc. If the extremist wealthy sunnis support al qaeda, MB etc Iran needed something better organized and more reliable. It found it with al Sadr and Hakim in Iraq, Iran created Hezbollah in the '80s so that comes as handy now and they are paying Hamas too. Oh yeah Iran is pushing hard and pissing on our heads, yet we do nothing! It is not only the military option (though here too are several ways to do it); we know the population is not happy with the mullahs, we also know they have ec problems so we should push on these buttons. I say we support MEK! Clinton as Olmert now with Abbas made a very stupid thing when in the '90s he put MEK on the terrorist list. Why? because the terrorist, mad mullahs asked him that. In return he got zip! Anyways its time we undone the harm he has done to the Iranian opposition.
