Is this the Beginning of the End for Mugabe?

As the above photo from the New York Times shows, facing 10,000% annual inflation has led Zimbabwe's dictator Robert Mugabe to impose strict price controls. This in turn has made it unprofitable to produce basic foodstuffs, with the results that shelves are now bare and the population is growing desperate. The Times reports: "'The last seven years, I haven't panicked at all,' said one Bulawayo clothing manufacturer who, like most people, spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of retaliation by the government. 'Now,' he added, 'I'm not so sure. I think there's a real collapse coming.'" Click the link to read the full sobering details. Those bottles of ketchup you see on the left might as well be Dom Perignon for all that the enslaved people of Zimbabwe can afford them.

Garrobo says:

Someone should have shot the bastard and all of his cronies twenty years ago.

Jonathan Gardner says:

If the democrats had their way, the US would be no different. Make no mistake: Mugabe and the democrats have the same agenda. It is only because there are enough people that believe in the constitution that the democrats can't enact socialist policies.

John Hussey says:

Garrobo, Mugabe's time will come. He is OLD and not in a good state of mind. His own party is splitting. In the mid-90's I met a man named "Jim", He and his family had left Zimbabwe via S. Africa with heavy hearts, built a boat and sailed to the Western world. He was lucky in some ways because he had a U.S Passport. Jim's wife was from a 7th or 8th generation "white" family, one of the first to settle there. Mugabe targeted Jim and his wife's very profitable and took everything. Mugabe destroyed a 15,000 acre farm and put about 500 full-time paid, housed and fed employees and MANY more seasonal employees out of work. All the children of ALL the workers went to school provided by Jim and his family. Mugabe gave all the land to his "freedom fighters" and as of last year when I last talked to Jim, the land was not producing ANYTHING. Important note: Many white farmers were not a good to their employees as Jim and his family was. Mugabe has made his own bed. May he ROT in it!

Brian H says:

The beginning of the end for him was the beginning of his beginning. It's just grotesque it's taking so long for him to exit stage left. One of the world's most truly despicable humans.
