Bedlam in the Middle East: Ahmadinejad on his Way Back to Columbia, Maybe Ground Zero too, and to Soon Play Footsie with Putin Whilst Syria is Getting Nukes from North Korea

CARI.Ahmadinejad.gif

Last year Columbia University invited maniacal Iranian dictator Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to give a speech to its students. A furious backlash resulted and the invitation was rescinded. Think that ended the matter? Guess again.

He's baaaaaack. It's just been announced that Ahmadinejad will speak at Columbia this coming Monday after he addresses the United Nations General Assembly at the opening ceremonies. Amazingly, Ahmadinejad also made a request to visit the Ground Zero site and lay a wreath, but it seems New York City authorities have denied the request (though perhaps not conclusively, he may go anyway).

In other news, it's being reported that Syria has a secret nuclear program, perhaps working in league with North Korea and, of course, Iran.

And Iran is reporting that it is pressing forward with Russia to put its Bushehr nuclear plant online. Russian "president" Vladimir Putin will visit Ahmadinejad in Tehran next month. Click the jump for an artist's rendering of the two faithful companions.

We have a poll running in regard to how the U.S. should respond to Ahmadinejad's evil deeds in Iraq, and over 300 have already cast their votes. Why not add your views to the mix? Click here to vote.

Artfldgr says:

Anyone want to go back in my posts and see where i said that iran is russias lynchpin in and to the middle east and africa?

I am pretty sure now that i am seeing the situation correctly, since i can make accurate guesses as to whats next.

one thing i am noticing is that ground zero for philosophical socialism in the US is requesting him (columbia), and that he will be making a big distraction by visiting the construction site of the new buildings.

i have also seen that there is some possibility that russia may step forward either in favor of syria, or in favor of iran and just block it with a threat like the old days. I have seen more than one mention to this.

Sweden and EU hssnt figured that there is some really serious stuff going down when over 600lbs of plastic explosive can be driven from sweden to turkey.

last i remember they didnt share a border, and so the open borders of the EU allowed for a transport across states to target turkey. why? to get turkey to question its part in the turkey, iraq, iran, afghanistan line of countries that block arms movement. iran is not taken, iraq and afgan cant be changed in situation, that leaves turkey as the only one left in wich force might change their mind as to cooperating.

you cant supply a war, even a small one, by aircraft. not to mention that russians state engine prefers to have a go between so that it has "washed their hands", and its not their problem.

in this case, the go through is iran.. they can make all the trips they want into iran and drop off weapons and arms that then can be distributed elsewhere. by dropping it off, they get to wash their hands.

the bombing of spain was to be able to bring ships through the cannal and have a sympathetic socialist state handle the passing so that things get through. thats for the middle east. they cant move it all through there, and so they need another way to move things into africa.

step in chavez. the new factories will make weapons, and its easy to ship them to africa from their than it is to have it travel from the ports in the northern seas. it also gives a proxy again. ships stopped and illegal cargo grabbed would not be pinned to russia other than source, not distribution.

even isreal has helped escalate things too. while its people may not like things as hot as they have been for years, would you put it past the leadership to want the constructive tension created by the discord which gets them perks that they might not have without it?

who knows in all of this... not me, since i live in a small apartment. these are just good guesses based on seeing the lay of the land.

i can see that the visit here will not go smoothly, it will be mixed. in one place he will say things no one can really pick on, and in another place he will say something very offensive or some such. why? because it stirs everything up by giving both sides something to sling at each other.

now that syria has been bombed, isreal is pumped up... my guess is hamas, or someone or something is going to escalate it in another way so that it spreads out not up.

perhaps we will start hearing official statements from egypt, and the sauds.

as long as iran can fall and the door can close, the whole thing will keep ratcheting up all over.

iran will keep working on things because it raises the ambiguity. i can even see a russian bomb being used in an underground test to create a signature to buy them more time. given its underground theres nothing to check.. though i think this would be a last ditch thing.

russian leadership historically likes to string things along. the longer it goes the more they get out of it. so in truth they do not want to set up a situation that would stop that process and force it to a point. this is why they dont just show them how. like a car theif that chops a car down, the parts are more valuable sold seperately than the whole.

for the most part the only response is to hang tight and close that door one way or another. to get distracted and involved in these other things is to lose and leave the door open for another 50+ years of problems (if things last that long).

another thing that will happen is that the socialist countries will all call for sanctions and such things against iran and such. in that way, it will not be fair to attack them or do something till enough time passes to see if the sanctions work. by that time though, elections might be around.

I think the UK is not going to be too noisy, they are already pissing around with putin and other issues, no need to complicate it since the issues are not that much theirs. though i can always be surprised.

the press should heat up.. any recut of ideas that they can imagine will be tried, and they will keep throwing it out there till one of them sticks to the wall. the whole idea is not to argue merit, but to find the argument or set of words or acts that unlocks what you want (a sociopathic view of things).

this kind of thing is something that the west is very weak at. give the US a clear thing, and its there and done. but states such as ours with the people having such a play, are not really able to handle ambiguity. ambiguity gives everyone looking for an either or a wishy washy neutral as they select based on what their wishful thinking is (which is in line with their beliefs which they dont question. in fact the dont even question that they dont question).

it should be interesting to say the least.

Russian says:

I hope the readers have managed to get safely through the Artfldgr's paranoid writing above with the pearls like "iran is russias lynchpin in and to the middle east and africa(?!)".
I heard Geography is not something of what the most of the Americans have a good knowlege. "Safely"- I mean without geting headache, delusions and paranoya.
OK. Lets go to the business, which is commenting on the article.
Well, I like the first picture. I like the style. I've saved it in my computer. Thank you, Kim. I have a few pictures of G. Bush and Condy Rise made in the same style, and promice to send it via e-mail to Kim Zigfeld in return. She may make use of them somewhen. The second picture is a nonesense. I could understand yet if the characters switched the roles. But, as is...?
Anyway, this is a ridiculous article.
The blog which declared "promotion of democracy" as its goal, is trying to promote censorship and the practice when the public is denied acces to the source of information which is not approved by the government.
Poor students of Columbia! They will stay on the tasteless oatmeal diet of the US official information about Iran; or may be they will also read Kim Zigfeld's watery writings; but their chance to hear from the original, which could be something spicy, seams to be bleak.
No wonder Kim is an apologist of shutting Ahmadinejad up. She cenzored me too when I commented on her own blog La Russofobe. She may shut me down again by noy publishing or deleting my comments. She always does it when her opponent makes his point and she can not. Well, let the Lord be a judge for her, if she thinks, she can say something smarter than gossipping on Maria Sharapova.
But I do not understand!!! Why?!
Why all this noise about Iran comes from the USA? What Iran has done so bad? Does not support the USA policy? They want nukes? Well, it has to be proven first. The second is: did Iran object when the USA started their project "Manhattan" and got the nukes first? Did Iran object USA nuking Hirosima and Nagasaki? Did Iran object the USA nuclear tests on attoll Bikini? Do Iran object bulding by the USA a new aircraft carrier? USA troops in Iraq and the Persian Gulf, close to the Iran border? And so on and alike...
So if Iran did not and does not, why the USA does? What an unfair world!

Artfldgr says:

Did Iran object the USA nuclear tests on attoll Bikini?

No, no it didnt..

in 1946 what it protested was (to the UN)..

The Iranian government protested against Soviet interference in the civil war in Iranian Azerbaijan to the United Nations Security Council. The Soviets supported the Tudeh rebellion against the Iranian authorities and the Iranians argued that the Soviets were keeping Red Army troops in Iranian territory after the evacuation date accepted by Britain, the U.S., and USSR.

they were a bit too busy with the soviets doing things to them and planting kgb then.

there was another test in 1954, but i was assuming that you were putting your foot in your mouth attempting to make equal two things that are so far apart that your ridiculous

they couldnt because the year before the cia collapsed the state from being in soviet hands and put it into US favored hands.. it was actually when both sides played pretty dirty and one of the non propaganda stories about the CIA. TP-AJAX search will get it for you.

however they were replacing Dr. Mohammad Mosaddeq, who was in parliment when england AND russia put their own in office. he preached against english control of the oil, and basically out go the brits but the russians stayed... (it was not long after this that romanian intelligence would create the islamic solution and empower terrorist groups with weapons, money, and tactical advice)

i havent read about stuff in archives as to the soviets real position, but the outward story is that he was highly favored then fell from grace.

anyway... in 53 they were too busy in a coup to protest another atoll test.

What an unfair world!

maybe to idiots who sees everything as grey and cant discern anything.

the sad part is that if something does happen (hopefully it wont) then what?

this is the way that hitler and others get into power, the constant excusing of things that shouldnt be excused, and reletevating to justify thing that have no real concordance.

from the manhattan project, to now, its a different world, and each of these states have a different attitude.

the US won the pacific war, the US did not keep japan, the US helped rebuild it, and more. The japanese have a strange relationship to that event, not what the leftists think. go read.

you dont know what makes up the situation that leads to the thing that your claiming isnt happening.

it only needs good men to do nothing, and making constant apologies and siding with something that in every incarnation has eventually led to misery, is not that bright, and its worse that you take others down with you, and their future as well.

if russia never got on this paranoid doctrine (which is what socialism leads to), the differences would be like looking at north and south korea today.

a communist looks at a rich person and says, nobody should live like that!

a capatalist looks at a rich person and says, eveyrone should live like that!

wake up, talk to those who have seen it, lived it, they are not as airy between the ears as you.

La Russophobe says:

RUSSIAN:

Your comment is utterly demented in that, while calling Artfldgr "paranoid" you proceed to argue with him. Personal abuse of fellow commenters will not be tolerated on this blog, and the next time you engage in it your comment will be deleted.

I wonder how you would feel if we asked "why does all this noise about Chechnya come from Russia"? What has Chechnya done that is so bad? Did you support a visit by Shamil Basayev to MGU in order to lecture Russian students about human rights? Did you think AT ALL before you spewed out your gibberish, which is an embarrassment to this blog?

Do you really believe you get to decide for Americans when their security is threatened? Do you really believe we might think you have our best interests at heart? Can you possibly be that deluded and idiotic?

The entire European continent, including most recently former Russian ally France, is arrayed against Iran. Sarkozy has just called for tougher sanctions after sending his Foreign Minister to Russia to blast Putin. Why don't you write a letter to him and make the same claims you've just made against me, you demented lunatic?

You live in the same neo-Soviet dreamworld fostered by Kremlin propaganda that destroyed the USSR and will do the same to Russia. Your ridiculous blather, much of it having nothing to do with the content of this post, clearly shows how utterly ignorant and heedless of basic facts are fairness you really are.

Artfldgr says:

LaRussophobe:
Thanks for the attempt to keep thing civil. I appreciate it for the service that it does to the forum and the quality of discorse.

Though I can protect myself VERY well from such things, and am quite known for it, i appreciate it because it keeps this form of slicing and dicing from being entertainment. it also allows me to focus on what should be focused on.

for that: THANKS!!!

RUSSIAN:

Let me take a clear second to point something out that your not realizing.

unlike you i am not saying that my idea is correct, and the only answer. in fact i have distinctly treated it as a hypothesis, and have made sure that its clear that this is how i see it too. paranoids dont do this, they dont examine the world in a way that they test their examinations validity by forming a hypothises, and then using it to predict things based on it.

this is the HUGE span of difference between my writing and a HUGE majority of others writings.

look at your writings, you have speckeled them with authority phrases and such wich when you dont actually know, because you cant actually know, amount to coercion.

and thats the seat of the problem, you and a lot of other people cant tell the difference between coercion, and other forms of resolvable debate.

coercion seeks to win at any cost, even the cost of truth. debate, discussion, argument, all imply that either side can be on the shorter end based on some merit of point.

but when wining is the ONLY thing, when the race becomes more important than why your racing, the whole thing degrades.

and you can see it in that its no longer a discussion on merits, points of fact, and such... it becomes a person making blind assertiosn that they cant see as such. it becomes the intellectual equivalent of a bar fight, where people call names (pick up chairs and throw them), lie (hit others on the head from behind with a bottle), and on and on.

the winner of a bar fight does nto get a title.. in fact they get noting.. its an empty win to everyone except the fool, a pyricc victory that amounts to nothing and whose reward is misery.

all your doing is making lots of noise because you think validity doesnt turn on pionts, premises, and conclusions, but that it turns on tricks, manipulation, and such.

is it any wonder that leftist states are the way they are when this is the actions of the intelligentsia... those just smart enough to pretend they are smart, and use these tactics and such in some way they imagine real debate to proceed.

sad, very very sad... for we have already heard you agree with despotic acts and such, while at the same time claim to not be for them, and that putin isnt doing them.

guess what... you dont see you do it, how can you see him do it. if you see him do it, then you have to accept that part of you that is, and that would mean you either accept that evil in you, or that you have to think about changing it and growing past wasting your life seeking others to control others so that you can be happy

Russian says:

La Russophobe

I did not proceed with him. I argued with you. Because I find you writing about Russia diletantish. Why don't you write about anything else? Like, say, tennis? Ok, Ok!
Noise about Chechnya comes from Moscow because Chechnya is considered to be a part of Russia,(what I do not approve)and there is rebelious separatist movement. Chechen terrorists took children in schools and women in maternity hospitals as hostages. And world recognised terrorist Bassayev was the one who led this hostage taking operations. Bassayev was not a president or a king or even a sultan. He was not allowed in the UN. He was sought by Interpol.
So I do not understand why you compare Bassayev to the state leaders like Hugo Chavez or Ahmadinejad.
The latter was participating in the American diplomats taking hostages, yes. But that was long ago, when he was young. Now he is a leader of a such important Middle East state like Iran, he was at the UN General Assembly speaking to the world leaders, and it could be certainly a learning experience for the Political Science students to listen to what he might say.

Artfldgr

By going into details, siting and giving the exact dates (btw, 1946 is a little bit late for the date when the bomb was born, and Japan was nuked)you showed that you missed my point. The point is Iran DOES NOT OBJECT the USA to be a nuclear power and making as many bombs as they want.
Iran DOES NOT object America's military buld up and bases next to the Iranian border.
So, why America objects Iran getting a small, let's say, just 20 kiloton bomblet? Is the international law not the same for all its subjects? What right the USA have to dictate the others what to do and what not to do?

Muslims Against Sharia says:

Muslims Against Sharia condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the decision of Columbia University to provide a speaking venue for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Apparently letting Akbar Rafsanjani speak at the National Cathedral was not the height of American Dhimmitude, because providing a venue for the world's foremost anti-Semite, whose proclaimed goal is the destruction of the USA and Israel, definitely takes the cake. What is surprising is that we don't hear any complaints from Columbia alumni who should be ashamed of their silence.

More on the subject: Why Does Columbia host Ahmadinejad?

Steve Johnson says:

Hi,

Just some FYI:

WASHINGTON, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Friday

Freedom’s Watch President Bradley A. Blakeman released a statement and a copy of the print advertisement it has requested to be run in the Monday edition of the New York Times.

“Freedom’s Watch could not sit back and allow a terrorist to come to
America masquerading as a world leader. We have an obligation to warn the
world of the dangers of a nuclear Iran and to uncover the true intent, that
being, the destruction of the United States and the State of Israel.

Let’s be clear, Iran today kills American soldiers in Iraq and they will not stop
there,” said Bradley A. Blakeman, President of Freedom’s Watch.

The text of the advertisement follows:

Ahmadinejad Is A Terrorist

Columbia University is wrong to give him a platform.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad threatens our nation and the
freedoms we value. He has supported attacks on our soldiers and our allies.
He should be treated as the terrorist that he is.

Yet, while Columbia gives a terrorist like Ahmadinejad a platform to
speak, they refuse to allow the ROTC on campus.

What has happened to this prestigious university?

People who support killing Americans are welcome. But the military that
defends them is not.

Columbia should be ashamed of its actions.

Freedom’s Watch knows that America and the forces of freedom are right.
We know the threat of terrorism is real. And we know Democracy must
prevail.

The terrorists and their appeasers are wrong.

“And God willing, with the force of God behind it, we shall soon
experience a world without the United States and Zionism.”

Wow! And here we have brainwashed Yankees form "the home of the braves, and the land of the frees".
And how about the Bills of Rights and democracy to which the USA has dedicated herself?
Or you, brave guys are afraid of what Ahmedinijad may say?

Who in the world is concerned about your freedom? Are you serious?
Who, the hell, is threatening it?
Do we alredy got Iranian invasion forces massed in Mexico and Canada to invade the poor, defenseless nation of the USA?
Iranian aircraft cariers along the Atlantic Cost?
Do they kill american soldiers on their (USA) territory?

The USA is threatening other nations' freedom, and this is more serious! The USA kill people in other contries.
And all the problems the USA have in the world come from that.
