Third Bus Explodes in European Russia
For the third time in the past six weeks (first, second), a bomb has exploded on a passenger bus in southern Russia, the region proposed for the 2014 Winter Olympic games. The Moscow Times reports that "the bomb went off at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday while the bus was making a planned stop in Nevinnomyssk, a town in the Stavropol region, and the number of casualties would likely have been much higher if the bus had been on the road and full of passengers." The blast "killed two women and injured 14 others." Vladimir Putin has totally failed to provide Russia with the security benefits one would expect from a proud KGB president, yet has delivered in spades on the loss of personal freedom. In other words, Russia has the worst of all possible worlds. That the USOC has dared to locate an Olympic games in this region is the height of folly, and nations who care for the lives of their athletes should boycott the games unless they are relocated to a civilized location.
