Putin Accused in 1999 Apartment Bombings

As if the news on the American elections front, where Russia foe John McCain leads all Republican challengers, were not bad enough news for the Kremlin, now there's this from the Telegraph:

Sir David King, who as the [British] Government's Chief Scientist played a key role in the investigation into Litvinenko's murder, has accused the Russian president of masterminding the murder of nearly 300 of his own people in the Moscow apartment bombings in 1999, which Putin blamed on Chechen terrorists. "I can tell you that Putin was responsible for the bombings," Sir David claimed to Mandrake at the Morgan Stanley Great Britons Awards. "I've seen the evidence [apparently classified, from the British secret service]. There is no way that Putin would have won the election if it wasn't for the bombings. Before them he was getting 10 per cent approval ratings. After, they shot up to 80 per cent."

After the KGB was caught red-handed planting explosives in a Ryazan apartment block, and after they razed the sites of the Moscow bombings without conducting any serious investigation, and after most of the members of the investigating committee were killed or jailed, it was pretty obvious that Putin was responsible. But now a high-ranking British official has confirmed it.

Time for the world's leaders to take action, isn't it? Should this country really be a member of the G-8?

Can I see some documentation links on all of this? Not that I don't think Putin's capable of all this (I loathe the man), but it's only common sense look for confirmation on the blogosphere.

There is a link in the post to the original story. The Telegraph reporter is relating what he was personally told by Lord King.

You can also read David Satter's "Darkness at Dawn: The Rise of the Russian Criminal State" c/r 2003 Yale University Press. pp 24-33, etc... There are also approx. 4 videos on YouTube concerning this incident. They are in Russian, I do not remember the exact name. There were interviews with some of journalists, witnesses, etc... When I saw those vids, my first reaction was 'how did anyone manage to make this film, and live to produce it?' Those would be good places to start to see the why this British guy came to this conclusion.

So, according to this British government official, Putin is responsible for 300 deaths in Moscow. What about former US government officials and journalists who say they have documented evidence that Bush is responsible for TEN TIMES as many deaths in New York and Washington? If it is true that Putin killed 300 people, and Bush killed 3,000, then isn't it time for world leaders to finally act and kick the US out of the G-8 too?

Thanks! I saw the link to the Telegraph-- I was looking for other links like B's. Both replies are appreciated, however.

La Russophobe says:

PUBERTY:

You are an illiterate idiot or an utterly incompetent propagandist, perhaps both. This post does not say Putin ordered the apartment bombings to become president, it says he ordered them to generate support for his declaration of war on Chechyna, which occurred within days of the bombing, and to boost his popularity and power. It doesn't say the fact that he became president IS the evidence that he planted the bombs, it says that this British official has "seen evidence" (obviously from the British secret police, and classified) that Putin gave the orders, and merely points out in addition what is obviously correct, that he wouldn't have been elected president so easily if not for the hysteria that accompanied the Chechyna campaign, which was his baby from the beginning as even a literate child knows full well.

This blog has already documented a long history of murders that followed Putin to the presidency and beyond, and the killing of those who attempted to investigate the Moscow bombings is part and parcel of that disgusting history.

And the person making these charges is not an "old widow" (the expression is actually wife, not widow) but a highly respected official of the British government.

You can run, but you can't hide.

Aris Katsaris says:

puberty, the FSB agents were caught red-handed placing the explosives on apartment buildings.

Given that pesky little fact, all your arguments about how the FSB agents are human beings are irrelevant. Ofcourse the FSB agents are still human beings -- they are mass-murdering human beings.

Have you never heard of mass-murderers, before? Humans all of them.

Kim> You ought eventually grow up and figure out that beginning your posts by calling people "illiterate idiots" is not the way to convince them. The plain facts alone are strong enough that you WEAKEN your argument when you burden it with personal insults.

There are charging status LED indicators on our laptop battery chargers. The LED "STAUTS" lights in red and the LED "CHARGER" flashes in green while the battery charger connected to the power supply. After you've loaded the battery, the LED "CHARGER" lights in red. The LED "CHARGER" flashes in green and red alternately when the battery is almost achieving maximum capacity (over 90%). The LED "CHARGER" will lights green when the charger completed the charging process.
All of our batteries are manufactured with high quality cells, which may not be the same material as that in OEM laptop batteries. Actually, almost all electronic device manufacturers do not produce the batteries used in the devices. They all have to be manufactured by outside battery manufacturers. Therefore, there's no difference in turns of quality and reliability. Our aim to provide the best quality and high-performance batteries to our customers, we have adjusted the batteries' internal resistance for more stable and more reliable. As a result, there will be a little bit difference in our batteries run-time comparing with the OEM batteries' (no more than 10%).
