Alright, the Democrats are doing a broadcast of what they think we should do. This should be interesting. In fact, it already is, because he is talking about values. They are, in their credit, at least trying to calmly explain where the Democrats stand. But… alas, I find myself disagreeing at the very core of these values.
The first point being on the protection of today’s jobs from shipping overseas. It makes me question their judgement, being the historical party of raising taxes. Note that the countries with the highest growth and investment are those with the lowest taxes. If we do go through with the tax reform, we’ll not only keep the companies we have here, but we’ll attract foreign ones as well.
Ugh. Now it’s just getting down to bickering. “Same old ideology over and over again.” Aren’t Republicans supposed to be the party of fear? Then why are the Democrats talking about Social Security cuts that haven’t even happened? And I’m sorry (or not) but the government is not gambling with our social security money. It is letting us have our money back to do what we want with it. I don’t consider that gambling. I consider that moral, and the government taking my money immoral.
Reed also mentioned that they won’t block President Bush with partisan politics where they shouldn’t. Then why hold up Gonzalez’s nomination today? Geez. He’s going to be appointed anyway. They’re spending their political capital on things that don’t matter.
Now Pelosi is speaking. She’s doing the same thing Reed just did, which is talking about her background. Isn’t that how John Jerry bombed during his convention speech?
When will the get it? There is no clear plan. There is no plan. There cannot be a plan. The circumstances change. By sticking to a certain plan, the militants just learn how to get around it. The same goes for an exit plan. Why don’t they get this?
Her eyes scare me. She’s bugging out. But the downplaying of the Iraq election is just… wow. Broader participation? I don’t know if I’d trust them with get-out-the-vote campaigns in Iraq. It certainly didn’t work here for them.
I do agree with a military second to none. I’ll give them that. But like I said, they don’t have a history for that sort of thing, and they talked way too much about new pensions.
