COMMENTERS ON MAIDAN CREEP ME OUT

In another installment of my series “Crazy People,” some of the people who comment on Maidan topics are rather creepy and unintelligible. While I like Maidan itself, one guy got rubbed the wrong way — a little too easily — when I wouldn’t compare Iraq and Ukraine. Start at the top and read downward. Let me know what you think in the comments, but here is a sampling:

Your brief comments in the reply you didn’t have time for are shallow and condescending.

Your web site indicates you’re all over the place, an ideologue. Do you have detailed, specific knowledge of any locale on the planet? Or are you just cheerleading after the fact on whatever pops up on RSS feeds? If the latter, you’re a mere propagandist, subject to anything that appears with the correct buzz words.

As a brief reminder, the US war in Iraq was and is based on a tissue of lies. Planting “democracy” there was never, not once, EVER mentioned as a reason for going to war. The consequent “…reason it gets so much financing and military presence is because they need to establish institutions that will allow them to self-sustain themselves in the future. Most of the money goes to military costs” is a direct result of US invasion. US made a big, expensive mess, and now has to clean it up and put the best face on it. It’s never too late to say that it was all about democracy, eh?

Things like lies versus honesty and integrity just don’t bother some people. Ukraine collectively decided that those things DO matter. Your coming in with shallow, insipid comments implying there’s no difference between lies/corruption and truth/honesty, and the ends justify the means, gets right back to where Ukraine just came from.

I could go on, but I don’t have time. (I can’t see much of your front page, BTW. The text is covered with commercial ad space

Like I said, visit the link and read the entire thing to see what he’s talking about. I was part of the conversation, and I still don’t know!
