Haaretz is reporting that at least 20 people have been injured in a suicide bombing in Tel Aviv:
The suicide bomber apparently blew himself up at around 11:15 PM on a Friday night at the “Stage” club on the corner of Herbert Samuel and Yonah Hanavi streets in the city.
Police were closing roads Friday night, and have asked the public to avoid arriving at the area.
Security officials are persuing two suspects, after witnesses reported they saw two men fleeing the scene of the explosion.
According to the police, the terrorists may have come from the northern West Bank, and may intend to return to the area.
This was bound to happen sooner or later, I suppose. It will now go to Mahmoud Abbas to show how he is different than Arafat. Will he crack down on the terrorists or will we be back to more of the same?
And how will Sharon react? He can look on this as actually working to his favor. If he can extract some action from Abbas, allowing him to demonstrate control, Sharon can emerge stronger. Now it all depends on Abbas now.
As a side note: I have been absent from this blog for a while, but I’ll try to keep you interested while Robert is off doing what he’s doing this weekend. D.
