Bolivians elections are advancing rapidly as Jorge Quiroga and Samuel Dorian Medina try to forge an alliance that can take on far-left Evo Morales who is currently in the lead but is by no means a certain winner. Morales is threatening mayhem if he does not win. His lead is extending but Bolivian voters have a history of moving against the frontrunner at the very end of a campaign so anything can happen.
A quick roundup:
Miguel Centellas of CIAO! has the latest poll showing Evo Morales in a decisive lead with 34% of the vote.
Miguel Buitrago of MABB writes about the pros and cons of whether Morales can really win – in a fine analysis.
Alvicho Ruiz Navajas at OFF TOPIC notes that Evo Morales, in a little-noted news item, intends to end Bolivia????s freedom of the press, one of the few good institutions existing in Bolivia. He thinks Morales has totalitarian intentions and I agree.
Eduardo Avila at BARRIO FLORES has some good updates on third-place leader Samuel Dorian Medina.
Luiz Afonso Assumpcao of SWIMMING AGAINST THE RED TIDE in Brazil says that President Lula supports Morales and this is no surprise.
