RESISTANCE AND CIVIL DESOBEDIENCE IN CUBA

Cuban dissident Guillermo Farinas Hernandez is on the 2nd day of hunger and thirst strike in Cuba. Hernandez – whose health was already deteriorated during his time in jail – is striking for protesting against repression and the threats of closing his Cubanacan press agency. Hernandez said: “May they know that if God wants me to die, I’ll die and will be another martyr for the freedom of Cuba”. The next 72 hours are decisive to know whether his health will be further deteriorated or not. Listen to his declaration at Radio Mart????

Violent and big terrorist act against peaceful dissidents gets tough response from neighbours in Placetas, Cuba. Amado Ruiz Moreno was harassed along with some other dissidents by state terrorists tied to the paramilitary militias. Moreno tells that the fascists not only shouted their usual offensive and defaming slogans; they broke the dissident’s house’ s door and windows. One police officer unsucessfully threatened Moreno with taking his 14-year-old daughter from school to the place where the act was being held , “in order for her to see who their parents are”. The young girl was later hospitalized for suffering from pains due to the continued terror her family is living in.

The good news in all that was that THE DISSIDENT’S NEIGHBORS CAME OUT OF THEIR HOUSES AND CHALLENGED THE CASTROITE MOBS; SOME CITIZENS WERE EVEN SEEN SHOUTING AGAINST THE MOB AND THE REGIME. Plus, Moreno’s neighbors visited him at his house offering him solidarity and support, SOME WERE CRYING AND WONDERING HOW LONG WOULD THIS SITUATION LAST. “I told the mob and police that I am not afraid and that the more they harass us, the more people will join the dissident movement. This day will be remembered in Placetas as a day in which such act has been challenged by ordinary citizens”, Moreno said.

Once again, the ordinary Cubans are desobeying to the police’s call to participate to these terrorist acts. Cubans are losing the fear and coming to the rescue of peaceful freedom fighters. The regime cannot find anyone to hold these acts, except its militias and their relatives. Angel Pablo Polanco from Havana, on behalf of the Assembly to Promote the Civil Society, denounces at radio Mart???? this last repressive action.
