This just in from Goldman Sachs – I have not seen this in the media but this is a credible source. I suspect the U.S. company is Heinz:
Land Expropriations Continue
The National Land Institute continues to survey large rural estates with a view to repossessing land holdings that are considered idle or underutilized or whose private property titles cannot be certified.
Since last year, a number of high-profile rural estates have been taken over by the State and given to small local cooperatives. In the latest development, the Land Institute claims that a large property owned by a US-based company rightfully belongs to the Venezuelan State and is in conversations with company representatives to determine what portion of the land should be returned to the State.
Land takeovers, illegal occupations of urban apartment buildings, and the pressure on some industrial producers, all without the protection granted by due process of law, are eroding property rights and hurting medium- and long-term oriented investment.

Miguel has more bleak thoughts about the mudslide of corruption and eroding rule of law that are leaving Venezuela a smoking ruin here.
