You might not have guessed this right off, but Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez has been watching Ukraine’s Orange Revolution intently. This Sunday, for the first time, he made a statement about his fear and loathing of it. On his weekly Sunday television variety show, ‘Alo President’ he made this following remark, addressed to his opposition. El Universal reports:

Ch????vez wondered where his rivals for next December 3rd presidential election are. He reiterated that his opponents are determined to denounce electoral fraud. He said the dissent, with US support, would establish a “pink revolution,” just like the “gringos” did in Ukraine.

The “pink” reference is Chavez’s effort to paint his opposition as “gay.” He’s known for these disgusting homophobic remarks intended to degrade all people, as are his closest allies, like this one here.

That Chavez equates his opposition with the freedom marchers of Ukraine ought to give great comfort and hope to Venezuela’s beleaguered opposition. They too are in the same league and just as Ukraine’s ultimate result was the victory of the people, so too shall Venezuela see the same victory.

Tyrant beware.
