Montenegro is no longer the suffix of Serbia. With an overwhelming turnout, just over the required 55% needed votes were cast in favor of independence, making it the last country to break away from the core of what once was Yugoslavia. There are a lot of issues here. Will the Serbian unionists fight back? Can a state so small defend itself an build a proper economy? What about EU membership?
These are the questions that will be answered in the coming days, months, and years. So I will not bother with them now. It will come. Peaceful self-determination is a beautiful thing, something to be celebrated, and the media has caught on to that. Once again, we get to test the protest babe theory, where whichever side has the most beautiful women rallying for their cause is the right side. Juvenile? Sure. But it hasn’t been wrong yet.
So as much as I would like to get into Balkan politics (which is actually pretty low on my priority list…), I’d rather take a look at the protest babes that are appearing at pro-independence celebrations following the votes. I’ll tell you one thing. We need some of these girls in the good ole USA!
Compare these to the protest babes of Belarus and I think you’ll start to get the idea.
So what do you think everyone? Is this protest babe material? Is independence the way to go?
