La Margaret Thatcher of France?
Source: The Telegraph, London
Glenn at Instapundit has found the impossible, an authentic French revolutionary and Babe of Politics, Sabine Herold, 25, who takes it as a compliment when people call her Mlle. Thatcher.
Mlle. Herold is a fierce free marketer who thinks Nicolas Sarkozy is a wimp and has begun running for office on a campaign ticket that says the French have got to stop going on strike all the time.
Given the fact that the French are just northern Latin Americans, white-wine Latin Americans, deep down, Sabine Herold’s work as a libertarian light in a sea of socialism puts her in the same rare libertarian club as is found through Latin America – tiny dots of brilliant libertarian thinking in scattered think tanks through the hemisphere, as socialism swirls all around them in conventional wisdom. She’s part of the Club seen in Latin America and now in France.
France is a particularly logical country for libertarians, given that one of the greatest libertarian revolutionaries of all time, Frederic de Bastiat, was a French Basque thinker. It is good to see French people getting back to their cultural roots and that’s what Sabine Herold represents.
She is extraordinary, a name to remember. What a breath of fresh air. And easily a babe of politics. Can she transform France?
