AMLO LEADS IN OFFICIAL VOTE

There’s no news link, just a wire report that’s not out on the Internet yet. AMLO is leading in the Mexican presidential election official count with 35% of the polling stations officially counted already. The first “quick count” results said that Felipe Calderon had won. Now, the PREP, or summary, results, which are being tallied now, say that AMLO is in the lead – and that lead is pretty big, three percentage points with 50% of the ballots officially counted. (Update: It’s diminishing to 2.42% with 64% of the PREP stuff counted). Anything could happen. It’s going to be a wild ride….

UPDATE: Now with 77.93% of the vote counted, AMLO has a 2.1 percentage point advantage over Calderon. The score: 36.73% to 34.63%, in AMLO’s favor.

UPDATE: El Universal has an update, it says that with 79.21% of the vote counted, preliminary or otherwise, AMLO’s lead has narrowed to 2.06 percentage points, 36.73% to 34.63%, still in AMLO’s favor.

UPDATE: El Universal is reporting 81.04% of the tally in, with the percentage point differential in AMLO’s favor at 1.97. The tally now reads 36.65%
to 34.68%, with AMLO still ahead.

UPDATE: 83.53% of the vote counted. AMLO’s lead continues to narrow. El Universal reports a 36.55% in favor of AMLO, against 34.73% voting for Calderon, a 1.82 percentage point differential now.

UPDATE: 84.84% of the vote counted. AMLO’s lead narrows further. El Universal reports a 1.77 percentage point differential. The tally now reads 36.51% – 34.74%, in AMLO’s favor.

UPDATE: 85.34% of the precincts counted. AMLO’s lead is now just 1.72 percentage points. 36.49% in favor of AMLO, 34.77% in favor of Calderon. The El Universal link is here.

UPDATE: 86.61% of the precincts in. 1.62 percentage point differential between AMLO and Calderon. El Universal‘s tally has a 36.45% – 34.83% breakdown in AMLO’s favor.

UPDATE: Getting kinda scary all right. With 90.57% of the precincts in, the differential between AMLO and Calderon has shrunk to just 1.2 percentage points. AMLO has 36.23% of the vote and Calderon has 35.03%. El Universal has the link here.

UPDATE: 91.21% of the precincts counted. If I had to guess, based on the rate of his gains and the remaining votes to be counted, I’d say Calderon is not going to make it. El Universal‘s latest breakdown is 36.19% – 35.06%, AMLO’s favor, with a 1.13 percentage point differential. See it here.

UPDATE: 92.17% of the ballot counted. 0.99 percentage point differential between AMLO and Calderon. 36.11% favor AMLO, 35.12% favor Calderon. El Universal has the link here.

UPDATE: Ziva in the comments below calls it right when she says ‘nail-biter.’ With 92.69% of the precincts counted, AMLO has AMLO has 36.07% of the vote, and Calderon has 35.15% of the vote, there’s just 0.92 percentage point between them. I have no idea how this will turn out, it could be an exact tie. El Universal has the rest here.

UPDATE: 93.67% of the vote counted. AMLO has 35.99%, Calderon has 35.22%. The percentage point differential is 0.77. I can’t tell a thing about who’s gonna win. Anything can happen. El Universal has the rest here.
