ZAPATERO’S DODGE

Is there any greater freedom than to be a bozo? That’s the way it seems with Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, the prime minister of Spain.

He really, really, really hates the U.S. He hates it with a loathing that would challenge Hugo Chavez. He kicked the U.S. out of the Columbus Day parade in Spain a few years ago and invited in Cuba instead. Columbus Day – which in Spain is National Day – is a big deal there. Then in another incident, Zapatero pointedly refused to stand for the passage of the U.S. flag at a parade. “Why should I stand? It’s not my flag,” he petulantly whined.

Now it’s one thing to hate President Bush, lots of people do it, but to insult the flag itself is an insult to the entire nation. It’s also a symbolic act, so the only person it really reflects badly on is the person doing it. That’s where Zapatero stands on this. He likes to make himself look small. What’s a pity is that he is the leader of Spain and still hasn’t outgrown his infantile disorders.

Franco at Barcepundit points out that Zapatero’s at it again, childishly refusing to look at the U.S. flag even though circumstances in his balcony forced him to stand. He studiously wouldn’t look at it because ‘You can’t make me, you can’t make me!’ It was like Gilligan’s Island, the guy was that bad. See Franco’s little blog expose on this ridiculous, petulant snub of the U.S. flag in a second incident from a man who’s just too small for his office in this post here.

UPDATE: Jim at GatewayPundit has got lots more about this here.
