The Taliban’s barbaric destruction of the centuries’ old Bamiyan Buddhas

Remember the 2001 brazen destruction of the Bamiyan Buddhas?

Right in front of the world’s face, the filthy, foul Taliban, led by the mascara-loving Mullah Omar, smashed this irretrievable masterpiece of human hands, an ancient artwork that inspired human minds throughout centuries, and then he vilely claimed it was all ‘sinful.’

So 1,000 years of culture, of art, of devotion, of miraculous expertise, a great window on the mysterious minds of our ancestors, was destroyed by this maggot, using western explosives to achieve his end. As for the rest of humanity, its right to behold this work with wonder be damned. Omar didn’t do wonder.

Did Mullah Omar have a grandness of his own to replace it? No. Omar was always just a goofus, a subliterate, uncultured thug of very little brain, a vainglorious scumbag who thought he was fit to wear Mohammed’s own mantle, a relic also lovingly preserved by centuries of the devout, and something he also desecrated. He did not special to destroy these masterpieces, all he did was go out and buy some dynamite, feeling real high-tech and righteous.

But to the Afghan people, whose ancestors created the Bamiyan masterpieces, he had nothing but hatred. It might have even been his own ancestors’ work he destroyed. One thing is sure – he sure as heck did not care about the cultural treasures of Afghanistan.

Afghanistan did not exist except as an instrument to advance his own power.

And despite cries from all the world, he tore away the sight of the Bamiyan Buddhas for every Afghani child who would follow him in that atrocious explosion, leaving these children only a heap of rubble.

The Taliban’s brazen destruction of the two Buddhas was a portent of the dual destruction to come on 9/11 in the U.S. and it was a tragedy that no one had known it.

Today, it comes to light that the animal who destroyed the Bamiyan Buddhas wasn’t just Mullah Omar, who was happy to be a puppet – it was Osama bin Laden himself, hateful as he was of the country where he had been a ‘guest.’

Bin Laden was behind the destruction of the Buddhas. He sought to impose his desert nothingness on the rich cultural heritage of Afghanistan, same as a conquering imperialist. Now historically, most historic conquerers bring something to their lieges. But this bastard brought nothing, nothing but destruction.

Oh to see him destroyed in a million little pieces, same as the irretrievable loss he wrought on the Bamiyan Buddhas, and everything beyond!
