Do you ever wonder what power it was that made Ronald Reagan victorious during the Cold War?
A new history book, compellingly reviewed by Herb Meyer, casts amazing insight on what really happened during Reagan’s great rise to crush communism – and the secret was, Reagan was a … union boss:
Like Lech Walesa after him, and like Lane Kirkland who did his own share of communism crushing – and like Venezuela’s potential future leader, oil boss Carlos Ortega – union bosses, when they are good union bosses, have the incredible skills to enact great revolutions.
Reagan certainly had them, getting himself reelected union boss president of the Screen Actor’s Guild a record seven times, one of the longest serving union bosses in all U.S. history. Not only that, during his tenure, he fended off a communist takeover attempt of the guild, a first success which gave him an experienced record of crushing communists even before he was elected president.
Meanwhile, as a union boss doing bread and butter issues, dealing with hardnosed corporate leaders and incredible prima donnas in the union ranks, Reagan perfected exactly the remaining skills needed to destroy communism.
The Kremlin didn’t have a chance against union boss Ronald Reagan, he knew too many things about human nature. And in the final bit of foolishness, they all dismissed him as an actor.
For us, this clearly gives us amazing new things to think about as to what factors out there can really trigger democratic revolution. The Poland of Lech Walesa is no anomaly and perhaps, then in the future, neither will the jailbreak of imprisoned union leader Carlos Ortega be, either. There is something magic and compelling about a union boss who favors democracy. Let’s start learning more about this if we can. Labor leadership can be absolutely pivotal in democratic revolution.
