“WALK FOR DEMOCRACY IN BELARUS” INFO FOR BOSTON

Hey everyone,

I’d like to thank you all for expressing your interest in participating in the Walk for Democracy in Belarus. It is an event that will be held worldwide in places as far-ranging as Nepal, Taiwan, Ghana, England, and right here in Boston in order to raise money for pro-democracy organizations that oppose the current dictatorship. I’m emailing you all to let you know the final plans and instructions for participating in the walk. Please, do not hesitate to forward this info on to anyone you know so that they can participate. The more people coming, the better.

You do not have to donate in order to participate, however, know that your money will be used for a good cause. If you do decide to donate, you can donate $15 and you will receive a T-shirt to wear and to commemorate the event. I ordered several more than I have people signed up, so it will likely be no problem to get one.

Make sure to bring cameras! We will need to send Students For Global Democracy as many pictures as possible so that they can be distributed to dissidents and opposition forces in Belarus. Besides the money, a huge part of this is the moral support that they feel seeing all of these people from all over the world supporting their cause.

Also, if you can, make a poster for yourself with a catchy slogan or even something as simple as “Free Belarus!” I will be making several posters, but the more the merrier.

Now, here are the directions for where to meet up:

The (T) terminal at Harvard Square, at noon, at the top of the stairs. We’ll go to Park Street and walk the Freedom Trail, and then walk around the busy streets for awhile to get some attention.

This will be on Saturday, October 15, 12:00 p.m.

Harvard Square is nearest to most of us, but if you happen to be in the city of Boston and want to meet up, just give me a call. I’ll provide my contact info at the bottom of the email.

This is going to be very exciting guys. Remember, bring absolutely anyone you know! The bigger the better! And hopefully, a year from now when Belarus holds its presidential elections, we’ll have had an impact on unseating Lukashenko.

For a free world,
Robert Mayer
