This is a roundup for the Egyptian blogosphere (plus some other Arab blogs) and the protests against terrorism which they are organizing. I’ll be updating this post as I get new links. I would like to note that I was in Luxor, Egypt in December 1997, shortly after the gunning down of foreign tourists at the Temple of Hapsetshut there. Franco at Barcepundit reports that it’s official – al-Qaida had every intention of influencing the Spanish election with its atrocity in Madrid last year. Another car bomb has gone off in Beirut, but this time with a twist. This politician, Elias Murr, is considered pro-Syria. Lebanon’s caretaker Vice Premier and Defense Minister Elias Murr survived an assassination bombing ambush with minor and medium burns in Beirut’s suburban district of Naccache Tuesday. Local media reports spoke of one to four others killed in the explosion that ripped Murr’s motorcade to shreds. Nosemonkey from Europhobia is doing something pretty cool. With the absence of need for donations to the Red Cross or likewise organizations in the 7/7 terrorist attacks, he will be accepting and dispersing donations in the form of free pints of beer for police and emergency personnel. I like this idea.
We don’t even know the number of casualties yet, but we know who caused them. Search deep down. You don’t want to say it because, after so many years, you think it’s too cliche. But keep digging. Radio news report that this morning a bus exploded near Tavistock Square in central London. Eye witnesses report that the roof of the bus was blown away and many people were left injured. The incident is cause for concern due to the fact that other explosions have also been reported to have occurred in the London underground, namely between Aldgate East and Liverpool Street Station, Edgware Road and King’s Cross stations. The Luis Posada Carriles terrorism case has drawn a consensus in the mainstream media about the guy’s guilt and the need to throw him in jail even if it is, or especially if it is, in Castro’s Cuba or Chavez’s Venezuela. Last month, Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams was campaigning in the U.S. for money as he does every year. Except this year, he wasn’t invited to the White House, and was even snubbed by Ted Kennedy. I personally relate the IRA in many respects to Hizb’allah and Hamas: a bunch of thugs who use coercive intimidation and commit crime because they can’t do policy in a democratic society.
