Conservatives Dominate Weblog Awards
Filed under:
The annual Weblog awards are an opportunity for the big-time, high-traffic political blogs to go head-to-head and see who has more loyal readership, each trying to drive their visitors to hit the Weblog site and cast one or more votes for them in various categories. This year, we conservatives dominated the contest (still amazingly poorly patronized, with only half a million votes cast spread out across almost 50 categories from the hundreds of millions of Internet users). Here's a look at the results (none of these categories are specifically about politics, so many include non-political blogs which often were the category winner):
Right-wing Campaign Spot 14.0%
Left-wing Extreme Mortman 7.3%
Right-wing Little Green Footballs 22.7%
Left-wing Daily Kos 18.9%
Right-winger Glenn Reynolds (Instapundit) 54.1% (category winner)
Left-winger Lindsey Beyerstein 20.7%
The only loss the conservatives experienced was for Best Blog, where left-winger Arianna Huffington edged out right-winger Michelle Malkin 13.6% to 13.1% (both were far behind the category winner, PostSecret). But the explanation for that is simple. The conservative vote was divided by our embarrassment of riches, with the wonderful Captain's Quarters (6.6%) and Andrew Sullivan (3.8%) also in the race. The left had only one candidate. Conservatives also scrapped it out in their own specific category, where Ace of Spaces HQ prevailed.
So much for the idea that conservatism has been rejected or is in decline!
