Happy Birthday, Publius Pundit!

Three years ago last Tuesday, eons in blog years, on January 8, 2005, Publius Pundit was born. Our very first substantive post (after the welcome message) dealt with the issue of bloggers under attack in Iran, and since then we've only seen the problem of the oppression of democratic values in that benighted country, and elsewhere around the benighted world, get more and more severe.
Over the past three years, we have welcomed well over 1.5 million visits, and they've accessed the hundreds of web pages we have created over 2 million times. We've received thousands of comments and had our posts linked to thousands of times by other blogs, including some of the most powerful and prominent political entities on the web -- placing us the top 20,000 blogs on the planet as judged by Technorati (out of tens of millions that they have under survey).
We've published a wide variety of views from a wide variety of sources, and have linked to hundreds upon hundreds of sources we discovered by scouring the blogosphere. We've joined the Pajama's Media network, a grouping of the most influential conservative political bloggers in the world, and our analysis has been quoted far and wide.
And this all grew out of the creative initiative of just one person, Publius Pundit founder Robert Mayer. It just goes to show what one talented and determined person can do if he puts his mind to it! Like moths (well, very pretty and elegant butterflies!) to a flame, Robert attracted an impressive group of contributors with expertise in various parts of the globe to provide news and commentary. Most recently, our Manuela Paraipan has been reporting to readers direct from the ground in Lebanon and Cyprus -- and before that it was Robert himself in Belrus.
But none of this would have been possible without you the reader, so it's time for you to take a bow as well! Let's wish Publius Pundit another three years of moving on to even bigger and better things, leading the way towards a more democratic and less oppressed world.
And to good old PP we say: Happy Birthday Old Girl! You don't look a day over two and a half!
