Postcard from Cyprus

Globetrotting Publius Pundit journalist Manuela Paraipan sends us a postcard from Cyprus. Click the jump to read her message and view her snapshots of a place few of us will ever see that sits in the crossroads of a great deal of political and financial intrigue. Feel free to drop questions for Manuela in the comments section, she will no doubt be stopping by to answer any you may have.
It is my first time in Cyprus. It looks and feels like a Mediterranean country. If you like the style go for it. If looking for a nice beach, family/friends chilling together and generally speaking a calm time Larnaca is the place to be.Make sure to book with a week, two in advance if you want to stay at the four stars hotels like Lordos Beach and Sandy Beach. I tried the Livadhiotis hotel downtown. Its very close to Saint Lazarus Church one of the main attractions of the city and its 5 minutes walk from the Makenzy Beach and the promenade. There are dozens of pubs, cafes and restaurants on the promenade.
Times Lounge and Evento are cool places to hang out in the evening. Just do not try the cheese cake at The Brewery. People are nice and the services good but the cheese cake lacks sugar. Plenty of Brits everywhere and the Cypriots speak English so its impossible to actually get lost.
The local currency is Cypriot pound (CYP). 1 Cypriot pound (CYP) = 1.71 euros and 1 Cyprus pound = 2.41US$
